2015 Championships, Memories, New Beginnings

In a few short weeks many of us including my wife and I, we will be traveling to different states to play nationals and world tournaments. This can be a very exciting time for sponsors, players, and families to be together and to have fun and experience new places and new things.  This time of year can also be very stressful for all of the above.  Below I have attempted to outline a few things to keep in mind if you find yourself on either side of stressful situations.

  • Play your nationals, conference championships, and world tournaments as if they were your last opportunity to win.
  • Encourage your teammates, whether or not you get along or like them. Play as a team.
  • Respect Umpires, remember without them we do not have a game to play.
  • Say thank you to your family for being gone so much to do what you love to do.
  • Be smart about work, do not loose a good thing to play softball and regret it afterwards.
  • Be smart about drinking and driving out of town.
  • Be honest with your sponsor or coach/manager if asked “what are your plans for next year”.
  • Be mindful when talking with other players/coaches about others, “you never know who knows one another”
  • Last but not least, remember you are an adult and to act like one.

This time of year can be very fun or very challenging, remember this is a game and some decisions we make can impact the remainder of your life and your personal perception about yourself in the softball community.  Good Luck to all levels as we approach the last few months of the season.

Until then, see ya at the park!
